In a dream it is a well-known, famous matter and leadership. The banner and the standard are a scholar, an imam, a shrewd brave ascetic, a generous rich man, or a strong, victorious man whom people follow; he will see joy from the man so described. If it is black, he will see sovereignty [su'dad, wordplay on sawad 'black'] from him. A standard, for a woman, is a husband.
Whoever sees flags and embroidered banners, that is rain. If they are black, it is a scholar; if white, a jealous man who does not marry; if red, war; if yellow, an epidemic among the soldiers; if green, a journey over land.
Whoever sees a flag in a dream, his affair has become confused for him and he cannot find his way in it; but if he sees the flag and the standard, he will be guided in his affairs, come out of his griefs and sorrows, have opened for him what was closed in his affairs, and have his heart opened. It is said: whoever sees a banner in his dream will become well known in his town. If a woman sees that she buried three standards, she will marry three husbands from among the nobles who will die and leave her. A banner in a dream is marriage, and for a pregnant woman a male child. A large banner is winds and rains. The bearer of the banner is interpreted as the judge: if one who seeks a judgeship carries it, he will obtain it.
