Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Sweets (confectionery) حلواء

In a dream they signify sincerity in religion, the release of a prisoner, the arrival of a traveler, the recovery of the sick, marriage for the unmarried, guidance and repentance, knowledge and the Quran, new children, eminent servants, and lawful provisions. Manna and what is made from it is blessing and an unacknowledged favor. Seasonal sweets signify witnessing a season [of pilgrimage or festival] or the renewal of an office for a just ruler. Puffed sweets are flattery, lies and pleasant words. Fried sweets are a profitable partnership. [The text has an unclear term here] is small provision or a lowly position. Sweets made for digestion and for sweetening the breath signify loftiness and elevation, and the passing of worries, miseries and illnesses. Know that every sweet thing by whose consumption a person's illness increases, eating it in a dream is an increase in illnesses, unless the sweet is made from leavens, fruit syrups or juices, for then it may signify recovery from illnesses. Likewise everything sour whose eating increases a person's illness, eating it in a dream signifies an increase of cold illnesses. There is no good in one who eats faludhaj [a starch-and-honey sweet] in a dream or has it brought to him, because it may signify the disease of paralysis [falij]. Sweets that count among foods are composed of four elements: honeycomb honey, sugar, manna and dates; each of them, when a person eats it, is a good life in its time, joy, and deliverance from a risk whose origin was greed. Sweets signify lawful provision and pleasant speech; for believers they are the sweetness of faith, and for the dissolute the sweetness of this world.
