In a dream it is a useful servant, because it shovels earth and dung, and all of that is wealth needed only by one who has it. For an unmarried man and for one who hopes to buy a slave girl, it is marriage or taking a concubine. For one whose provision is straitened, it is prosperity. For one who has goods paid for in advance, it is good news of collecting them. For one who has grain in the ground, it indicates harvesting it; how much more so if he shovels earth, dung or straw with it: that is even more remarkable in abundance. Shoveling with it may indicate an eager appetite for food, because it does not care what it shovels and leaves nothing behind. It may indicate the ladle. It is said that it is a child if it is not worked with; if it is worked with, it is a servant. The owner of a spade will attain a good worldly life, and he will be a man of strength, trustworthy, laboring and weary, whom every man seeks help from and obeys, and he reaches the end of the matter. The spade is a woman patient with toil and fatigue. It may indicate provision, gain and vigor after illnesses.
