In a dream it indicates the measure, and both indicate faith and justice in word, deed and measuring. It may indicate the wife, because of what is held in it. It indicates the paying of debt and the fulfilling of a vow. The builder's level indicates the engineer and the builder. Seeing the mill's balance indicates a man great in himself but petty in his ambition, his earnings, his expression and his movements. The bone balance is a crippled or mute child. The musk scale is a warning against heedlessness and an urging to call oneself to account over vows. The scale is interpreted as the judge: if it is standing and new in that town, he is a strong jurist. The pan of the scale is the judge's hearing, and the dirhams are like the lawsuits that gather in the pan of the scale just as words gather in the judge's hearing. The weights are like the upright witnesses through whom the deciding of judgments takes place.
(Whoever sees) a scale come down to him from the sky is a seeker of what is right. It is said that the weights are the judge's jurisprudence: if they are ample and complete, the judge is complete in jurisprudence; if they are few and deficient, the judge is incapable in judging. The beam of the scale is the judge himself, the pin is his office, the cord and chain are his assistants and agents, the ring is his deputy and the one he trusts, the pointer [literally ‘tongue’] is his tongue, and its two pans are his hearing. If the pans are pierced, the judge takes bribes; if they are sound, he does not take bribes. If the pointer leans to the right, the judge leans toward the plaintiff; if it leans to the left, he leans toward the defendant.
(Whoever sees) that he is weighing copper coins will hear false testimony and judge by it.
(Whoever sees) a scale in his hand is on the Sunna.
(Whoever sees) that God is taking account of him and his deeds have been placed on the scale, and his good deeds outweighed his bad deeds, he calls himself to account in worldly matters and has a great reward and recompense with God. The scale of the Resurrection indicates the disclosure of secrets, the establishment of proof, joy and happiness, victory over enemies, justice and fairness. If the dreamer is in litigation and his scales are heavy, he will succeed; if his scales are light, he will lose. The scale in general indicates everyone who is followed as an example and by whom one is guided, such as the scholar, the ruler and the Quran. It may indicate its owner's tongue: whatever balance or otherwise he sees in it reflects upon him in his truthfulness or lying, his betrayal or his trustworthiness. The fodder-sellers' scale is the treasurer of the public treasury. A scale whose pans are of donkey hide indicates merchants and traders who fulfill their trust in commerce.
