He is the guarantor who takes responsibility. Seeing him may indicate fear. It may indicate high standing, leadership, precedence, enjoining good and forbidding evil. It may indicate a chamberlain, a child, a mother or a teacher. If in the dream someone becomes an imam and leads people in congregational prayer facing the qibla, in complete ritual purity, neither adding to the prayer nor leaving anything out: if he is fit for office he will take charge of it, or of judgment, or of undertaking what benefits people. He may put himself under a guarantee, or stand surety for a group, or go into partnership with people from whom he hopes for good. If he led the people in prayer facing away from the qibla, he will betray his companions and introduce an innovation; he may commit a forbidden act, and people will pursue him for it.
Whoever sees that he is leading people in prayer will take charge of an office in which he is just, provided his qibla is straight and his prayer complete; or he will command people or forbid them.
Whoever sees that he is leading unknown people in an unknown place and does not know what he is reciting is on the verge of death. If a woman sees that she is leading men in prayer, she will die, because she is not fit to lead the prayer, so that will happen only at death: she goes before them while they pray over her [the funeral prayer]. Likewise if he sees a non-Arab man who cannot pray or recite properly leading people in prayer.
Whoever sees that he led people in prayer standing while they were sitting will not fall short in their rights while they fall short in his; or his dream indicates that he will look after sick people. If he leads them sitting while they are standing and sitting, he will not fall short in a matter he takes charge of. If he leads people who are standing and sitting, he will take charge of the affairs of the rich and the poor. If he leads them sitting while they are sitting, they will be afflicted with drowning, theft of clothes, or poverty. If he sees that he is leading women in prayer, he will take charge of the affairs of weak people. If he leads people lying on his side or reclining, wearing white clothes, and he does not recognize his place, and does not recite in his prayer nor say "God is greatest," he will die and people will pray over him. If a governor sees as if he is leading the people in prayer, he will be dismissed and his wealth will be lost. Whoever leads men and women in prayer will attain judgeship among people if he is fit for it; otherwise he will attain the role of mediating and reconciling between people.
Whoever sees that he completed the prayer with the people, his tenure in office will be completed; [if it is cut short,] his office will be cut off and his rulings and words will not be carried out. If he prays alone while the people pray individually, they are rebels (Kharijites). If he prays a voluntary prayer, he will enter into a guarantee that does not harm him. If the people made him their imam, he will inherit. If he sees as if he is leading the people and cannot recite properly, he will seek something and not find it. Whoever leads people in prayer on a rooftop will be generous to people and gain renown through a loan or charity.
