Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Money-changer صيرفي

In a dream he is a scholar who does not benefit from his knowledge except for worldly gain. He is one whose craft is the turning of words, argument, disputation, and question and answer, because of the dinars and dirhams he takes and gives, which are inscribed speech — like the judge with his scales, his rulings and his justice. His scales may be his own self, his tongue, and his two shoulders [the scale pans] his ears; the weights of his scales are his justice, his judgment and his rulings; and the dirhams and dinars are disputes with people. It is also said he is the jurist who takes a question and gives an answer with fairness and balance. He is also the dream interpreter, in view of what is brought to him to weigh and interpret: he takes something compact like dinars and gives speech broken up like dirhams, or he takes scattered speech like dirhams and gives a collected interpretation like dinars. So whoever in his dream changes a dinar with a money-changer and takes dirhams from him: if he is in a dispute, it will diminish; if he has merchandise, he will sell it; otherwise an incident will befall him in which he will need to ask a jurist, or he will see a dream for which he needs to ask an interpreter, and in the outcome of what we have mentioned there will come to him what he dislikes and what grieves him. Likewise if he receives gold and pays out dirhams, he will meet with something disliked and a financial loss. Seeing the money-changer also signifies wealth and ample provision from doubtful sources; and it may signify the scholar of inheritance shares and one versed in arithmetic, such as a clerk and the like.
