In a dream he is worry and distress if he is a baby who is carried. An adolescent boy is good news. If a city is under siege and the people are in hardship, and someone sees that a boy of handsome appearance entered the city, or came down from the sky, or came out of the earth, then good news is near and relief is coming to the people of that place. A boy who has reached maturity is honor and strength.
Whoever sees that he is a boy learning at the Quran school (kuttab), he will repent of a sin he used to commit, if what he is learning is the Quran. If a person who is a scholar or a governor sees that he is learning at the school, he will become ignorant or will pass from honor to humiliation.
Whoever sees that he is a beardless youth will receive an inheritance from his mother. If a poor man sees that he is a boy whom his mother has just borne, he will obtain provision and wealth. If a young man sees that he is a boy, that is not praiseworthy and his wealth will not be complete. If a sick person sees that he is a boy, he will die.
Whoever sees himself as a boy while he has a lawsuit will be overpowered.
Whoever sees his face in the mirror as the face of a boy while his wife is pregnant, his wife will bear him a male child who resembles him. Carrying a small boy in a dream is worry. A boy is a weak enemy who shows friendship and then shows enmity. If he sees that he has had children born to him, it signifies worry and distress; if the child is male, the outcome will be praiseworthy, and if female, the outcome will be blameworthy.
Whoever sees that he is carrying a boy will manage a kingdom. If a grown person sees that he has turned into a nursing infant, he will commit an act of ignorance in which he loses his dignity; but if he is in severe worry or hardship, it will lead him to relief and health, and he will come out of his sins like the day his mother bore him.
Whoever sees that he has a small child, provided its body does not touch his, it is an increase he will obtain in his worldly life, and comfort. Small children signify small, slight worries.
Whoever sees a boy in his lap will be beaten with a stick (or: will play the lute). Seeing little ones (ṣighār) in a dream signifies wrongdoing, as God the Exalted said:
“And when a sign comes to them, they say, "Never will we believe until we are given like that which was given to the messengers of Allāh." Allāh is most knowing of where [i.e., with whom] He places His message. There will afflict those who committed crimes debasement before Allāh and severe punishment for what they used to conspire.”
Quran 6:124 · Saheeh International
(the word ṣaghār, “humiliation”, shares its root with “little ones”). Sometimes seeing them signifies joys and adornment. Sometimes seeing them, if they are the dreamer’s own children, signifies being tested through wealth. Sometimes seeing little ones signifies casting off burdens and being content with the barest living, or being unable to secure means. Sometimes a little one is a servant boy kept as property, because he is assigned to run errands like a servant. Sometimes killing him signifies abundant knowledge, because of the story of al-Khidr, peace be upon him. If they are referred to as “sons” (banūn), seeing them signifies wealth, spouses, and much continuous goodness.
