In a dream it is a harsh, unjust, oppressive ruler who acts openly and is dominant because of his daring. It may indicate death, because it snatches away souls. Seeing it may indicate the recovery of a sick person. The lioness is a wicked, tyrannical woman who is fiercely protective of her children. Seeing the great lion (hizabr) indicates ignorance, conceit, self-admiration, obstinacy, haughtiness and coquetry. It is also said: the lion in a dream is a dominant enemy. Whoever sees the lion from where it does not see him, and the dreamer flees from it, will be saved from what he fears and will attain wisdom and knowledge.
(Whoever sees) the lion come close to him and face him will be struck by worry from a ruler and then be saved from it.
(Whoever sees) that the lion threw him down without killing him will suffer a persistent fever, for fever never leaves the beast of prey; or he will be imprisoned, because fever is God Almighty's prison.
(Whoever sees) that he is wrestling with the lion will fall ill, because illness wastes the flesh, and whoever wrestles with the lion has his flesh wasted.
(Whoever sees) that he took some of the lion's flesh, bones or hair will obtain wealth from a ruler or a dominant enemy. Whoever rides the beast of prey while he fears it is riding a calamity, or an affair from which he can neither advance nor retreat; and if he does not fear it, it is an enemy whom he will overpower.
(Whoever sees) that he lay down with the lion without fearing it will be safe from illness.
(Whoever sees) the beast of prey enter a house in which there is a sick person, that person will die; and if there is no sick person in it, it indicates fear of the ruler.
(Whoever sees) that he is afraid of a lion without seeing it, that is safety for him from his enemy.
(Whoever sees) that he looked at the lion and saw it near him without its mingling with him will be struck by fright from a ruler, but that will not harm him. Seeing that may indicate death and the nearness of one's appointed time.
(Whoever sees) the lion in his house will attain authority and a long life.
(Whoever sees) that something befell him from the lion will suffer something to that extent from a dominant enemy.
(Whoever sees) that he fought a lion will fight a dominant enemy.
(Whoever sees) that he is eating lion meat will obtain wealth and riches from a ruler, or defeat his enemy.
(Whoever sees) that he ate the lion's head will attain great authority and much wealth.
(Whoever sees) that he is eating any of the lion's limbs will obtain a dominant enemy's wealth in proportion to that limb among the limbs.
(Whoever sees) that he obtained some of a lion's skin, hair or any part of it will obtain a dominant enemy's wealth, and it may be an inheritance. The lion indicates the warrior, the snatching thief, the unjust official, the chief of police and the pursuer. As for the lion entering the city, it is a plague, a hardship, a tyrannical ruler, or an enemy who enters upon them; unless it enters the congregational mosque and climbs the pulpit, in which case it is a ruler who will oppress the people, and affliction and fear will befall them. The lion cub is a child.
(It is also said: whoever sees) that he killed a lion will be saved from all sorrows. Whoever turns into a lion will become an oppressor according to his station. It is also said that the lioness is a king's daughter.
