It is the "seeds of the clouds." If it falls from the sky, it is a sign of the king tormenting people, taking away their wealth and hurting some of them with severe beating. If he sees as if the sky is raining hail or snow out of its season, the dreamer will fall ill with a slight illness and then recover from it. If he sees as if, along with the hail, [something] fell from the sky onto his body, some of his wealth will go. Hail in its season indicates the departure of worries and sorrows and the humbling of enemies and enviers, because it cools the earth from which snakes and scorpions emerge. If the hail is abundant and ruins places and roads and blocks the way, that indicates the stopping of livelihood, a standstill in one's affairs and difficulty in travel. Hail may indicate foreign merchandise arriving from the direction from which it fell; [if it causes harm,] it is a sign of evil, and if no harm results from it, it is good and provision, especially if people gather it in their vessels or eat it without being harmed by it.
Whoever sees hail falling on a land, it is mercy from God the Exalted if it does not ruin anything; and if it ruins things or is excessive, it is a punishment descending on that place. Hail in places of crops and vegetation, if it ruins nothing and harms no one, brings fertility and good, and it may indicate locusts that do no harm. If the hail harms the crops and the people, or falls on houses and neighborhoods, it is disasters and fines imposed on people, or smallpox, or madness, or sores that gather and dissolve. As for one who carries hail in a sieve, a cloth, or something that does not hold water: if he is rich, his earnings will melt away or his wealth be wiped out; if he has merchandise at sea, there is fear for it; and if he is poor, everything he needs, wears and gains will not last with him, and he will save nothing of it for the future.
