It is the adornment of the eye. The eyebrow, for a man, is his good bearing and his beauty, his affairs and his standing in his religion, his trustworthiness and his position. Their interpretation falls upon whatever soundness or corruption is seen in them. If the two eyebrows have matching hair, they are both praiseworthy, because women blacken their eyebrows seeking adornment; that is why this came to signify something additional, and evenness of deeds. The two eyebrows are two parents, two children, two partners, two wives or two deputies. The eyebrow is likened to the well-known letter nun [ن].
If a person sees that his eyebrows have joined together, it signifies harmony and love, and the reverse [for separation]. Their blackness and the thickness of their hair, if not excessive, signify the good state of those they point to. Their whiteness and their drooping over the eye signify a change in the state of those they point to — child, partner, wife, deputy or companion; it may signify a long life, until he sees himself like that. The eyebrows signify a rank in religion, so whatever soundness or corruption occurs in them, attribute it to his character and his protection. The eyebrow may signify the protection of whoever the eye points to, such as a chamberlain, a governor, a guardian or a husband. It is a bow whose arrows are the glances of beautiful eyes.
