In a dream it indicates the carrying out of affairs and rulings for those in charge of them, unless he digs up something edible or useful, in which case he mismanages what God Most High has taught him or the wealth God has provided him.
(Whoever sees) that he dug up the grave of a known dead person is seeking the way of that dead person in the world, if he was a scholar or a man of wealth, and he will obtain from him in proportion to that. If he sees that he reached the dead person in his grave, digging until he found him alive in the grave, that pursuit is righteousness, wisdom and lawful money; if he finds him dead, there is no good in him or in that pursuit. Whoever comes to the graves and digs into them and finds people alive and dead, it is a herald of something terrifying that will happen there. The grave robber seeks something hidden, effaced and ancient, because the Arabs call him mukhtafi [one who brings out what is hidden], in good or in evil. If he digs up the grave of a scholar, he is digging into his school of thought and reviving what has been effaced of his knowledge; likewise the grave of the Messenger of God (God bless him and grant him peace), unless his digging leads to decayed remains and torn rags, or he breaks the bones, in which case he leaves his practice for an innovation and a novelty. If he finds him dead and brings something good out of his grave, he will attain his aim of reviving his Sunna and laws according to its measure and kind. If he digs up the grave of an unbeliever, an innovator or one of the protected non-Muslims, he will follow the school of the people of misguidance, or deal in unlawful money by cunning and deception; if the digging leads to a stinking carcass, black mud or much excrement, that is stronger as evidence and more indicative of corruption.
