For its own people, in a dream it signifies knowledge, practice, asceticism, fear of God and weeping. It may signify worry, misery, lying, slander and false accusation. The church may signify heretical innovation, a house of injustice, of amusement, of gathering, play and fellowship over wine and impurities; it also signifies a wife and a slave woman, and a ruler who judges unjustly. Whoever among the unmarried enters a church in a dream will marry or be granted a child, or will go astray after having been guided, especially if he prostrates to the statues or kisses them, or shares with them in an offering, or has a zunnar [the girdle Christians were required to wear] around his waist. If he is in it remembering God the Exalted and disapproving of their practices, he will enjoin good and forbid evil, each person according to his ability and rank. The church may signify a haunt of devils, like a rubbish heap or a bathhouse. The newness and height of a church are a sign of weakness in religion and the forsaking of the Muslims.

Whoever sees a church demolished or burned, or struck by a calamity, it is a sign of the word of faith being raised and of the forsaking of the people of idolatry and hypocrisy. The church signifies those of the Christians who perform its functions, or the endowment or stipend that supports it. If he sees that the church turned into a bi'a [a Christian church/monastery of another type], or that the bi'a turned into a church, some event will occur among the protected non-Muslims (ahl al-dhimma) that humbles them.

Whoever sees that he is in a Jewish synagogue, his religion is their religion. If he sees that his house is a church, his speech resembles their speech, and he will make his house a meeting place for people of whims, innovations and sins; his superior may also become angry with him. Whoever sees himself in a church: if he is remembering God the Exalted in it, or weeping, or praying toward the Kaaba, he will enter a cemetery to visit the dead or to pray over a funeral. If he sees a dead person in it, that person is in the Fire, imprisoned with the disobedient.
