Ashes رماد

It is unlawful, burnt-up money. It is said it is provision from the ruler: whoever sees ashes will toil in some business of the ruler from which he gains nothing but hardship and fatigue. It is said ashes are false speech or knowledge that is of no benefit.

Whoever sees that he came upon ashes, or carried or collected them, carries false speech or knowledge and does not benefit from it. Ashes signify sorrow, inflammation of the eye [ramad, wordplay on ramad 'ashes'], or going astray after guidance. They may signify the extinguishing of strife and evil and safety from fear. Ashes gathered from individuals signify money from charity, or idle talk.
