Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Hunger جوع

In a dream it signifies the clothing of mourning, fear, unbelief and stinginess. Hunger is the loss of money, and eagerness in seeking a livelihood, a trade and worldly gain, in proportion to the hunger and to his provision from the world.

Whoever sees that he is hungry will obtain good and will be eager [for gain]. Some said: hunger is better than fullness, and thirst is better than having one's thirst quenched.

Whoever sees that he went hungry for a long time will attain a blessing after poverty, and the hungry man will obtain money in proportion to how hungry he became. Hunger signifies keeping company with one in whom there is no good, and emaciation; for the ascetic, it signifies fasting. It signifies high prices, scarcity and poverty. Hunger may signify scrupulous piety, remembrance of God and gratitude.

It is said: whoever sees that he is hungry in winter will be struck by famine.
