Face وجه

In a dream, if you see it beautiful, it indicates a good condition in this world, good tidings and happiness. If you see it black, it indicates the tidings of a girl for one who has a pregnant wife, because of His saying, the Exalted:

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

“And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.”

Quran 16:58 · Saheeh International

(Whoever sees) his face black and has no pregnant wife is a sinner. Yellowness of the face indicates humiliation and envy; its yellowness may be hypocrisy, because yellowness is illness and illness is hypocrisy. It is said that its yellowness indicates worship, because of His saying, the Exalted:

مُّحَمَّدٌ رَّسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ أَشِدَّآءُ عَلَى ٱلْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ تَرَىٰهُمْ رُكَّعًا سُجَّدًا يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنًا ۖ سِيمَاهُمْ فِى وُجُوهِهِم مِّنْ أَثَرِ ٱلسُّجُودِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ ۚ وَمَثَلُهُمْ فِى ٱلْإِنجِيلِ كَزَرْعٍ أَخْرَجَ شَطْـَٔهُۥ فَـَٔازَرَهُۥ فَٱسْتَغْلَظَ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِۦ يُعْجِبُ ٱلزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ ۗ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ مِنْهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًۢا

“Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allāh and [His] pleasure. Their sign is in their faces from the effect of prostration [i.e., prayer]. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that He [i.e., Allāh] may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allāh has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.”

Quran 48:29 · Saheeh International

which is the yellowness in their faces.

(Whoever sees) his face black and his body white, his inner self is better than his outward appearance; if his face is white and his body black, his outward appearance is better than his inner self.

(Whoever sees) that hair has grown on his face where it does not grow in waking life, it is a debt that overwhelms him and the loss of his standing.

(Whoever sees) his face changed from its state and diminished from its beauty and handsomeness, it indicates a deficiency, and he will be one who jokes too much, because joking diminishes the face's dignity [literally ‘water’]. If he sees that the flesh of his cheeks has gone, he will beg from people and live only by begging; in the hadith: “One of you will keep begging until he meets God with not a shred of flesh on his face.” If he sees darkness, dust or crookedness in his face, it indicates the corruption of his religion or a decrease in his standing. If he sees his face blue, or blueness in his eyes, he is a criminal, because of His saying, the Exalted:

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ ۚ وَنَحْشُرُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ زُرْقًا

“The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed.”

Quran 20:102 · Saheeh International

If he sees his face black, it indicates his much lying, or an innovation he has introduced into his religion. If his face is red and there is whiteness with the redness, it is a sign of relief, honor and a pleasant life; if he is righteous, something will befall him that makes him ashamed. If his face is large, it indicates his eminence. If he sees his face oozing sweat, it indicates his modesty and his sense of decorum. Yellowness of the face may indicate passionate love and affection.

(Whoever sees) his face red and frowning, it is a calamity that will befall him or a grief that will overtake him. If someone frowns in his face, he will see from him something he dislikes. If a woman sees that she blackened her face with soot, it is the death of her husband. If she sees that she is perfuming herself and using white powder, kohl and the like, it is good for her and for her husband. A cheerful, smiling and white face is a sign of the good state of its owner, living or dead. The beauty of the face of a woman, a child or a horse is a sign of its blessing, and the reverse.

(Whoever sees) in a dream that he has two faces, it is a sign of a bad end, because of his saying (blessing and peace be upon him): “God will not look at the two-faced man.”

(Whoever sees) that he has several faces, it indicates his apostasy from Islam, because of His saying, the Exalted:

وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۙ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْحَرِيقِ

“And if you could but see when the angels take the souls of those who disbelieved... They are striking their faces and their backs and [saying], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire.”

Quran 8:50 · Saheeh International

If he is a scholar, he will deal with the various aspects [wujuh] of knowledge. Scowling of the face, its weeping, its disfigurement and its blackness are a sign of loss of position and of lying; blackness of the face may indicate fear. If he sees fine hair on his cheeks, he is a man of a sound heart; if there is no hair on them, he is a wicked man. Cracking of the face is lack of modesty.

(Whoever sees) that his face is fresh and handsome is a man of modesty. Ugliness in the face is a fault, and a fault is ugliness.
