Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Dining table (spread) مائدة

In a dream it is a blessing, the answering of a prayer and a comfortable life. It indicates victory over enemies, and what is eaten on it is to be considered. The table is spoils gained at risk, and its being lifted away is the ending of those spoils. The table is food and livelihood for whoever owns it or eats from it. A well-known table that needs helpers [to serve it] is the governorship of a town or a flourishing village. The table is a great, dutiful, generous man.

(Whoever sees) that he is sitting at it will keep company with a man of that description. If he sees on it many fine loaves and good food, that is much affection among brethren, and little of it is little affection. Eating a loaf is a year's affection. Whatever dishes are on the table, one or two kinds of food, it is provision for him and his children. If he eats from it a great deal, beyond his habit, it indicates his long life in proportion to his eating. If he sees that the table was lifted away, his life has run out. Much crowding at the table indicates many dependents. If two opponents come together at the table, it indicates war, especially if their food is roasted heads, or harisa [pounded wheat and meat] and herbs; for the table is the field of encounter, and eating together is thrusting with the hands, each of them contriving to preserve his life. The table indicates religion. Whoever has men with him at the table will form brotherhood with people in happiness, and a dispute will occur between him and them over a matter of his livelihood.
