Contraction of the soul (seizing) قبض النفس

Which is the opposite of expansion [i.e. dejection, the opposite of cheerfulness]: in a dream it may signify illness or death, because of His saying, the Exalted:

ثُمَّ قَبَضْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْنَا قَبْضًا يَسِيرًا

“Then We [retract and] hold it with Us for a brief grasp.”

Grasping a thing with the hand is a renewal of ownership, or a spouse, or a child.
